4 Gems Of Uzbekistan (8 Days Uzbekistan Tour) covers the four must-visit cities of Uzbekistan. The tour begins in Tashkent - the biggest city of Central Asia and the modern capital of Uzbekistan. To its visitors and guests, Tashkent offers a unique mixture of the up-to-date infrastructure and city architecture with prominent historical and archaeological monuments. Next destination is Khiva - the ancient capital of Kharezm emirate and an important World Heritage site. A walking tour will reveal the mysteries of this legendary town leaving the unforgettable impressions. The tour will then move forward to Bukhara - "the Pearl of the East'?. Most of the tourists and visitors note this noble and fabulous city as the most impressive and inspiring one. Old buildings, madrases, mosques, minarets and covered bazaars keep Bukhara as an oldest living city of the caravan days. Then the route will take us to Samarkand - one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world, prospering from its location on the trade route between China and the Mediterranean Silk Road. Samarkand is rich of ancient monuments, buildings and places of interesting as well. In 2001, UNESCO added the city to its World Heritage List as Samarkand - Crossroads of Cultures.

After breakfast visit Museum of Applied Arts. You will receive a real pleasure from originality of works of art while viewing the halls of the museum.

Visit the Old City of Tashkent: Kukeldash Madrassah and the third largest Friday mosque in Uzbekistan - Juma Mosque.

There is another one holy place to visit - Hast-Imam Complex which contains the most famous Koran in the world - the Othman Koran. It is considered to be the oldest in the world (7 century) and the primary source of the holy book of Islam.

The pride of Tashkent is its subway. It is one of only two subway systems currently operating in Central Asia (the other one is the Almaty Metro).Its stations are among the most ornate in the world.

Fly to Urgench in order to get to Khiva (35 kms). Check in to the hotel in Khiva. Full day guided sightseeing program.

Visit Ichan-Kala (12-19 centuries) - the inner town of Khiva city which retains more than 50 historic monuments and old houses: Kunya Arc Fortress, Pahlavan Mahmud Complex , stone country-estate -Tash-Khowli Palace , Kalta-Minor Minaret- the real symbol of the city, and Islam Khoja Complex.

Depart Khiva in the morning, drive to Bukhara (470 kms,10 hrs) Trip through the Kyzyl Kum desert also called Qyzylqum, the 11th largest desert in the world.

During the trip you can admire Amu Darya River, as one third of the road is parallel to the course of this great Central Asian river, and communicate with a family of local shepherds that have installed their yurt (nomads' tent) close to the highway.

Naqshbandi Mausoleum

After breakfast trip to summer palace of Bukhara Emir's Sitorai-Mokhi-Khosa and Bakhoutdin Naqshbandi mausoleum which was erected in 1544 in honor of Bakhouddin Naqshbandi - very respected Sheikh of Bukhara.

Chor-Bakr Necropolis which was built over the burial place of descendants of the Prophet Muhammad. Silence and solitude of these ensembles will force anyone to think about God.

Full day guided sightseeing program in Bukhara.

Visit magnificent Mausoleum of Ismail Samani -the burial place of powerful and influential Emir of the Samanid dynasty. The construction and artistic details of the brickwork dated ninth century, are still enormously impressive, and display traditional features dating back to pre-Islamic culture.

Chashma Ayub (Job's well) Mausoleum is located near the Samani Mausoleum. The water of this well is pure and considered healing.

In the western part of Bukhara, close to Samanid Mausoleum and Chashma Ayub Mausoleum there is one of the most beautiful and graceful ensembles - Kosh Madrassah.

Visit Bolo Hauz Complex, Arc Fortress, Kalon mosque and minaret, Madrassah Miri-Arab, Magoki-Attori Mosque, Madrassah Ulugbek and Abdulazizkhan, trading domes and Lyabi Hauz Complex consisting of three large monumental buildings: Kukeldash Madrassa, Nodir Divan-begi Madrassah and Khanaka.

Visiting an extraordinary monument of the past- Chor-Minor Madrassah! There is no more similar building in Central Asia.

Depart Bukhara in the morning, drive to Samarkand ( 270 kms, 4.5 hrs)

On the way to Samarkand stop at the 11th century Rabat Malik.

The word "rabat" in Arabic means "castle" or "fortress". It was used to refer to the fortified settlements and resting places found along caravan routes. Unfortunately only ruins of entrance arch remained to our days. This arch was called by local people "Bukhara gates" , "Gates to the desert'? or "Gates to nowhere"
